Buarvige Island is the homeland of Rhetia’s main religion. Several holy sites lie on the island, as well as the monastery. One of its peaks, Cirsao, is Rhetia’s highest peak. Most of the population is in the densely forested interior, also known as Older Territory. The Nae Arikaia provides easy access to this interior, allowing civilization to flourish. During the Modernization period, West Buarvige was built up around Mount Celis and is today the most populated area.
Population = approx. 12,000
Largest city = Celiskeo in Western Celis County (historically, there were larger cities in Older Territory)
Chiefdoms/Counties
Like most Rhetian Islands, Buarvige was made up of chiefdoms prior to contact. These chiefdoms and their corresponding modern-day counties are:
- Renaii Chiefdom (West Tongues County, Western Celis County, and Southern Celis County)
- Anokdon Chiefdom (Andon County)
- Nonsaii Chiefdom (Northern Cevo County)
- Cenat Chiefdom (Eastern Celis County)
- Sraonir Chiefdom (Toinae County)
Older Territory consisted, at its height, of the Chiefdoms of Anokdon, Nonsaii, and Cenat.
